Centred on a group of people who were stranded on an uncharted deserted island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean after their boat the S. S. Minnow was shipwrecked, Gilligan’s Island follows the lives of these castaways and their hilarious attempts at escape.

The Minnow, a tour boat captained by the portly Captain Jonas Grumby known as The Skipper (Alan Hale, Jr) and his dumb witted first mate Gilligan (Bob Denver) finds itself in the middle of a storm resulting in their being stranded.

Their passengers and fellow island inhabitants include the millionaire Thurston Howell, III (Jim Backus) and his wife Lovey Howell (Natalie Schafer), a movie star named Ginger Grant (Tina Louise), The Professor (Russell Johnson), and the uncomplicated farm girl Mary Ann (Dawn Wells).

Most episodes dealt with the castaways trying to get off the island, but their attempts seemed to always be foiled by the dumb witted Gilligan.
